Veltins is a brewery that applies modern technology with authentic traditional brewing techniques and wisdom. The success of fresh VELTINS is based on two elements: the pleasant soft spring water from the hills around Grevenstein as well as the German Purity law of 1516. Using the best ingredients like pure malt, fine aromatic hops and strong yeast combined with a family recipe handed down for generations are the guarantors for the excellent taste of fresh Veltins. Veltins is still 100% family owned. The small guesthouse brewery of Franz Kramer opened its simple wooden gates in 1824. Clemens Veltins took over the brewery in 1852. Since then the brewery has been under the control of the Veltins family all the way to today with Susanne Veltins running the brewery.
- Veltins Pilsener Pilsener / 4.8% | Although the attention to tradition and the drive for innovation has help made Veltins the 7th largest brewery in Germany, in the end, it is about the beer. The Veltins Pilsener is the definition of a German Pils. Veltins believes in doing one bier and doing it right. The beer pours clean with a pale golden body and a white pillowing head. Subtle malt and a grassy-ness fill the nose. The first sip bursts with carbonation and there is a very balanced soft note of malt and hops. The sweet malt slowly melds to a dry, clean, crisp finish that leaves the mouth begging for one more drink.

Big Sky Brewing Company was started by Neal Leathers, Bjorn Nabozney, and Brad Robinson. Brad and Neal had been homebrewers in Michigan since the mid 1980’s, and had moved to Missoula with a group of friends in the summer of 1990. In the early ‘90s they worked at Sportsmen’s Surplus and High Country Sports where they met Bjorn. One of Brad’s first nights in Missoula was spent at the old Iron Horse when it was attached to Bayern Brewing Company down at the end of Higgins Avenue. He was impressed by Bayern’s lagers, but felt that there was room in Missoula for a second brewery; and since Neal and Brad specialized in brewing English style ales he felt that an ale brewery would be producing very different beers than Bayern Brewing Company did. Neal agreed, and the two began to work on starting up a brewery.

Ninkasi is named for the Sumerian Goddess of fermentation. The first recorded brewers were the Sumerians, who gave up their nomadic way of life to become agrarian to produce barley to make bread and beer. They were the first to write, have schools, laws and many other firsts including organized beer production. This fermented beer was able to nourish the settled people and provide potable water. It is our goal to educate the world that beer has played a significant role in the cultivation of civilization. We are proud to carry out this tradition for our community, producing the finest quality ales and lagers, and supporting community through events, education, and the social benefits of a delicious pint. The Roslyn Brewing Company has been brewing hand-crafted and full-flavored beers in the old world tradition since 1990. Our beers are excellent, full-bodied, German-style lagers reminiscent of those brewed by the immigrant miners in our hometown of Roslyn, Washington at the turn of the century. We use only the finest ingredients, including malted barley grown in the Northwest, hops grown in the Yakima Valley, and ice cold snow-fed water from the heart of the Cascades, to produce a full-bodied brew with a flavor that some say has been missing in domestic beers since the enactment of Prohibition.
- Roslyn German Style Dark Lager / 4.0% | Our original brew. It is a mild dark lager with a distinct character, and closely resembles the lager handcrafted by the German brewmeisters at the original Roslyn Brewery and Malting Company one hundred years ago. We use our own recipe of Roslyn water, fresh from the Cascade Mountains, four types of malted barley and three hop varieties to produce this smooth lager.
- Brookside German Style Pale Lager / 4.5% | A pale lager beer made without the darker malts that we use in Roslyn Beer. It is hopped primarily with Yakima Hallertau hops, and may remind you of a beer you might find at a small gasthaus in Germany. It is especially popular with people who like full-bodied, lighter beers with mild hopping, and is named for the Brookside neighborhood of Roslyn.
